Client: Jean Paul Gaultier
Event: Fragrance Launch
Brief: To create a series of performances that reflect the new fragrance.
Our client needed an engaging, entertaining and memorable way to communicate the feeling that their new fragrance ‘Scandal’ evokes when worn.
The fragrance was being launched internally at events held in Manchester and London and we created a variety of performances and interactive immersive entertainment for the brand.
To set the scene, our actors played the roles of 1920s paparazzi reporters and a French paperboy, shouting news of the new ‘Scandal’ in town as guests arrived at the event.
Taking inspiration from the ‘Scandal’ perfume bottle, that features a pair of legs with stilletos, our female dancers wore custom made baby pink corselettes, hand-embellished with pearls and accessoried with white feather fans. The opening number oozed Parisian glamour and our 8 dancers began with a performance that had a flavour of vintage Burlesque but with a sense of secrecy and suspense.
One of our incredible vocalists played the role of a Parisian Opera singer and serenaded the guests to a rendition of the song that would feature in the forthcoming TV commercial that would be used to launch the fragrance.
As the night progressed, our client wanted the evening to become darker in tone and atmosphere and as the lighting changed and the room was dimmed, our dancers returned dressed in red, black and lace, to perform a fiesty routine set to Lady Marmalade. The routine took place on a revolving stage and was in stark contrast to the opening number, setting the scene for the guests to party into the night!
